Females or football Men consider partnerships more important than tickets for the European Cup

08-06-2016

Elmshorn, 8 June 2016 – Once the football summer kicks off at the end of the week, everything else pales into insignificance. Spending a month’s salary on a ticket to the European Cup, peddling to Paris by bike or even sacrificing ones relationship; everything would appear possible once the ball gets rolling. However, a representative survey conducted by the opinion research institute YouGov on behalf of star petrol stations reveals that German men love their partners more than they do football.

While many dream of the chance to watch a game at the European Football Championships live, German men wouldn’t put everything at stake to do so. The recent survey shows that only one per cent of those asked would be prepared to end their relationship for tickets to the European Cup. Furthermore, only two per cent of those asked would be willing to cancel their summer holiday for a ticket. Taking out a loan or camping in front of the stadium for a week to get hold of tickets is also out of the question. So there is no cause for concern: The European Cup is unlikely to jeopardise any relationships.

The star petrol stations want to reward this faithfulness: Anyone who spends at least ten euros on fuel, a car wash or other goods at a star petrol station between 15 June and 30 September 2016 and then registers online using their receipt could win tickets for a trip to a French city including a Cup game – for two of course. In addition, winners can look forward to many other sporting prizes, including trips to the Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro or the traditional German Tennis Championship final at Rothenbaum in Hamburg.

Information about the star petrol stations’ campaign is available at http://www.star.de/mehralssport.

*Unless otherwise indicated, all data was provided by YouGov Deutschland AG. 2,027 people participated in the survey conducted between 30.05.16 and 01.06.2016. The results were weighted and are representative of the German population (aged 18 and over).
