Elmshorn, August 23, 2018 –The debut was a complete success; now, the second edition is on its way: on the 12th and 13th of October, the star Jazz Festival will once again take place in Hamburg. star petrol stations present top local and international musicians in extraordinary line-ups – an encounter that will not only attract die-hard fans. The focus is on the German and Polish jazz scene.

At the star Jazz Festival, in cooperation with the Jazz Federation Hamburg, top-class jazz musicians from Germany and Poland and other international greats come together. Representing the German-Polish fusion is the artistic director of the festival Vladyslav Sendecki, who grew up in Krakow, has lost his heart to Hamburg, is a pianist with the NDR Big Band and winner of the Hamburg Jazz Prize. Already at the premiere of the festival last year, Sendecki led the show and showed that jazz not only means the unfolding of musical fantasy, but also stands for pure joie de vivre.

"Encouraged by the great popular success of the start of the festival in 2017, we are delighted to be able to continue and expand this cross-border cooperation with the star Jazz Festival 2018", confirms Wieslaw Milkiewicz, Managing Director and Press Officer of the star petrol stations brand. star is known for their strong social commitment and for actively promoting of sport and culture. For example, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the jazz festival JazzBaltica in 2015, the petrol station brand presented its own concert as part of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival (SHMF).

Two days full of cross border music

In the Miralles Hall of the Hamburger Jugendmusikschule am Mittelweg on Friday, October 12, and Saturday, October 13, guests can look forward to stimulating musical experiences that allow freely for spontaneous interactions and improvisations. Saxophonist Maciej Obara and pianist Dominik Wania from Poland will kick off the star Jazz Festival. In their homeland, they are among the stars of the scene; in Hamburg they form a powerful, multi-faceted duo. Another part of the program on the first day of the festival is the "Motion Ensemble of Hamburg", founded by Vladyslav Sendecki. Here, top-class local wind and string players come together to play with trumpeter Reiner Winterschladen, drummer Jürgen Spiegel and Vladyslav Sendecki on the keyboards, in order to interpret the images of the documentary film "Land" by Timo Grosspietsch – an exciting multimedia project.

On the second day, a unique collection of artists from around the world will be on stage: "The Club of Continents". Saliou Cissokho from Senegal plays the African bridge harp Kora and Kalabass, Guo Yazhi from China / USA the woodwind instruments; trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer joins from Norway. Percussionist Mino Cinelu is from France / USA / Martinique, the host and conductor of the ensemble Vladyslav Sendecki represents Poland and Germany. This cast will no doubt not only be of interest to Jazz fans.

Both concert days will be recorded by the media partner of the event, NDR Jazz, and later aired on NDR Info.
