Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival star is sponsoring JazzBaltica once again

03-07-2013

For the second time, star petrol stations will act as concert sponsor for JazzBaltica. The first part of the Sunday concert JB8, with the legendary Polish pianist Vladyslav Sendecki, will benefit from this support.

The star petrol station brand, which operates around 560 stations in Germany, has become well known for its commitment to support cultural events. “Supporting an important cultural event like JazzBaltica is something I see almost as our duty. Here it’s not only about outstanding musical performances, but also about culturally supporting both Polish and international artists, as well as our home state of Schleswig-Holstein. Continuity
is important to us here – and that’s why we are involved again this year”, explains Wieslaw Milkiewicz, managing director and press spokesman for ORLEN Deutschland GmbH and its petrol station brand star.

Vladyslav Sendecki's music consistently treads new ground and never fails to surprise. One of the best and most interesting pianists in the world, he has been working with the NDR Bigband since 1996 and was the winner of the 2011 Hamburg Jazz Prize. “Unlike any other pianist,” writes the Süddeutsche Zeitung, “he forces you from blues to postmodern, modal improvisation explosion-filled jazz in classical forms, breaking down the artificial barrier
between classical and jazz.” The crucial aspect here is a highly communicative atmosphere: “For my current project”, Sendecki explains, “I have chosen a free form within a closed form, so that everyone has a window
to conjure up with everyone else. The palette ranges from opulent sounds to rhythmic passages.” The same goes for all involved! Because the Warsaw Atom String Quartet is also made up of outstanding soloists who can improvise thrillingly, and is one of very few string quartets to have made a name for themselves in jazz. After winning the Grand Prix at the “Bielska Zadymka Jazzowa” Festival in 2010, they released their first CD “Fade in” in June 2011. This album was also nominated for the “Fryderyk 2012” prize of the Polish Phonographic Academy in the “Jazz Album of the Year” category, and the Atom String Quartet received a nomination in the “Phonograpic Jazz Debut Album of the Year” category. What a line-up for this exciting concept!

star petrol stations are giving away ten tickets for the concert they are sponsoring, so you can experience it live. The tickets also include a meet-andgreet with Vladyslav Sendecki after the concert. star will also take care of getting you there: there are also five star petrol vouchers worth 50 euros each to be won.
