ORLEN Deutschland GmbH

ORLEN Deutschland GmbH is part of the Polish oil and petrochemicals group PKN ORLEN S.A., the largest Central-European company with an annual revenue of 23 billion euros (2010 figure). ORLEN Deutschland GmbH, with its head offices in Elmshorn near Hamburg, has been present on the German market since 2003. Currently, the group operates more than 560 petrol stations in Germany, most of them under the brand name "star".

It all started when the first ORLEN petrol station was opened in Berlin on 6 June 2003. Previously, in March 2003, the group had purchased 494 petrol stations under the banner of ARAL, BP and Eggert Mineralöl from BP. At first, the growth strategy of ORLEN Deutschland was focused on the northern part of Germany, using a two-brand approach. The B-brand "star" was created in July 2003 to complement the ORLEN premium brand. Since then, the brand has become more and more successful on the market. 

ORLEN Deutschland is currently seeking to expand further by expanding its network of petrol stations, as can be seen by the acquisition of 56 petrol stations from OMV Deutschland GmbH in the states of Thuringia and Saxony.
