Contactless payment at star petrol stations - now with Apple Pay

​Elmshorn, 14th of December 2018 – Already since 2010, contactless payment is a matter of course at star petrol stations. From now on, this is also possible via the recently launched Apple Pay in Germany. The new feature complements existing contactless payment methods, such as Google Pay or classic near-field communication (NFC) credit cards.

With the introduction of Apple Pay, mobile payments will become even easier for many customers. With the new service, the customer has the option to link a virtual version of his bank card on an Apple mobile device, such as an iPhone or an Apple Watch. Analogous to a contactless payment with a bank card, this makes the simple, secure and fast payment possible via smartphone.

"When it comes to payment options, star always sets new standards in the industry. For star, contactless payment has been a common practice for many years. In 2010, we introduced contactless payment as the first petrol station brand in Germany, "explains Waldemar Bogusch, CEO of ORLEN Deutschland and the petrol station brand star. "Apple Pay extends our offering to make shopping as convenient and instantaneous as possible for our customers."

Security and privacy are guaranteed by Apple Pay. The payment itself is processed via the user's bank card.
