ORLEN Deutschland, the
subsidiary of the top-selling Central Eastern European group PKN ORLEN from
Poland, is strongly involved in cultural events and especially in the promotion
of young musicians. The company has also been the main sponsor of the Chopin
Festival in Hamburg since last year. “We consider classical music to be an
important part of culture – something we cannot and do not ever want to be
without. Therefore, we promote outstanding musical performances and the culture
surrounding classical music,” explains Oskar Skiba, Managing Director of ORLEN
Deutschland GmbH and its petrol station brand star.
“The new format of
livestream concerts is aimed specifically at addressing younger generations in
particular. An important goal of ours is to inspire them with this music.”
The fact that Chopin was a
Polish composer from the country of ORLEN Deutschland’s parent company makes
him all the happier. Likewise, he is delighted to have internationally renowned
pianist Sijia Ma starring in the first digital Chopin concert. As a soloist and
chamber musician, her refreshingly light touch has left audiences enchanted in many
countries across of Europe and Asia. Sijia Ma won her first competition at the
age of nine and has gone on to win many other prizes. She has performed at
major festivals such as the Mozart Festival in Warsaw as well as the Chopin
Festival and Érard Festival in Hamburg.
She has put together a
special programme for the digital classical music experience on 29th of May,
during which she is set to perform F. Chopin’s Andante spianato et grande
polonaise brillante in E-flat major Op. 22 and 4 Mazurkas Op. 41 (no. 1 in E
minor, no. 2 in B major, no. 3 in A flat major, no. 4 in C sharp minor) and J.
S. Bach/F. Busoni’s Adagio from Toccata, Adagio, and Fugue in C major, BWV 564.
