ORLEN Deutschland congratulates THW Kiel on winning the 2020/2021 German Handball Championship
Elmshorn, 28th of June 2021 – In the 59th match of the marathon season 2020/2021, a draw at Rhein-Neckar Löwen is enough for the Zebras to win the 22nd German Championship. The crowning glory of an incredibly long season: ORLEN Deutschland is proud of its Zebras.
The 2021/22 handball season is decided by the very last throw, one second before the end. The ball misses the post by just a few centimetres, giving the Zebras the point they need. A 25:25 (13:12) was enough for the defending champions from Kiel to win the 22nd German Championship. "Today was a special day for every handball fan – you can't get more exciting than that," said sponsor player Patrick Wiencek. "I'm really happy for the boys and for the whole team behind the team – without this support, none of this would be possible – I'm just proud," said Filip Jicha after the heart-stopping final.

Last September, ORLEN Deutschland announced the extension of its sponsorship with THW Kiel and is thus counting on a long-term cooperation. Unfortunately, a joint championship celebration on the town hall square in Kiel has been cancelled again this year.
