star gets UKSH children's cancer ward moving

Donation by star filling stations enables young patients to become mobile again more quickly
Elmshorn, 1st September 2014 – THW handball star Patrick Wiencek and Wieslaw Milkiewicz, CEO and Press Spokesperson of star filling stations, hand over a cross trainer and a cable cross machine on their visit on 28 August to the children's cancer ward of the University Clinic of Schleswig Holstein's Kiel Campus. This purchase was enabled by the donation from the player partnership of THW pivot player Wiencek and star filling stations.
For every goal scored by Wiencek in the national handball league season 2013/2014, the star filling stations donated EUR 100. This goes straight to the children's cancer ward of the University Clinic Schleswig-Holstein (UKSH), Kiel Campus. The star filling stations rounded up the total achieved as a result of the 79 goals to EUR 8,500 for the benefit of the young cancer patients. The sum donated was used for new equipment to promote the mobility of sick children.
"It's wonderful to score goals and at the same time to do something good. To see that the donations have such a great effect every day in the clinic motivates me even more when I'm playing," stresses Wiencek. Following the handover of the cross trainer (Motion Cross 800 MED) and the cable cross machine (Cover-Line-Plus), Patrick Wiencek was busy signing autographs for the many little fans.
The star filling stations fund-raising campaign is now going into its third round in the current season 2014/2015, and its success is something to be proud of. The total donations of the 2013/2014 season were actually more than tripled in comparison with the previous season. "At the end of last season, we already saw that we can really help and get something moving with the donations. For that reason we will be working even more closely with the Clinic and extending our involvement in this matter so close our hearts," stresses Wieslaw Milkiewicz. Professor Martin Schrappe, Director of the Clinic of General Paediatric Medicine at the University Clinic of Schleswig-Holstein, Kiel Campus, adds: "With the donations, we can make the children's stay in hospital a little happier and so contribute to their recovery. Anyone who sees the young patients playing and running around again in the regeneration facility, you know that the donation has been well spent.
