Elmshorn, 25 April 2022 – Record-breaking champion THW Kiel once again won the German Handball Cup at the Final Four tournament held in Hamburg at the weekend. ORLEN Deutschland GmbH, the primary sponsor of the team and its shirts, also watched the top-class games with great enthusiasm at the company headquarters in Elmshorn, with the semi-final victory against defending champions TBV Lemgo Lippe and the final against Bundesliga leaders SC Magdeburg.

It’s also nice that with Kiel, a north German club has been placed on the winners list at the last edition of the tournament in Hamburg,” says Waldemar Bogusch, CEO of ORLEN Deutschland GmbH.
The company, with its star and ORLEN petrol stations, has been the primary sponsor of the Kiel team and its shirts since 2016, and is happy about their third joint cup victory after winning in 2017 and 2019. The Zebras’ 12th cup win was sealed by an outstanding defensive performance by Patrick Wiencek, who is sponsored by ORLEN. In addition, the THW keeper and world-class goalkeeper Niklas Landin was voted player of the tournament. After 28 years, it was the last time that the Final Four tournament was held in Hamburg. The finals will move to Cologne as of next year.
